Summary of Common Errors and Solutions for Roborock Sweeping Robots

This guide covers the most frequently encountered error codes and issues with Roborock sweeping robots, along with practical solutions to get your robot back up and running quickly.

1. Error 1 – Laser Distance Sensor (LDS) Fault

Symptom: Robot stops and reports an LDS error.

Cause: The rotating LDS unit on top of the robot is blocked or malfunctioning.

Solution:

  • Remove any objects or debris blocking the LDS turret.
  • Clean the LDS window with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Restart the robot. If the error persists, contact Roborock support.

2. Error 2 – Collision Sensor Fault

Symptom: Robot bumps into objects repeatedly or stops unexpectedly.

Cause: The front bumper sensor is stuck or dirty.

Solution:

  • Press the bumper in and out several times to free it.
  • Clean around the bumper edges with a soft brush.
  • Restart the robot.

3. Error 3 – Wheel Floating / Cliff Sensor Fault

Symptom: Robot refuses to move or keeps stopping near edges.

Cause: Cliff sensors are dirty or the robot is on a surface it cannot detect properly.

Solution:

  • Clean the cliff sensors on the underside of the robot with a dry cloth.
  • Ensure the robot is placed on a flat, solid surface.
  • Avoid very dark or reflective flooring that confuses cliff sensors.

4. Error 4 – Cliff Sensor Fault

Symptom: Robot stops and reports a cliff sensor error.

Solution:

  • Wipe all cliff sensors (usually 4 on the underside) with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Restart the robot and place it in the center of the room.

5. Error 5 – Main Brush Jammed

Symptom: Robot stops and the main brush is not spinning.

Cause: Hair, string, or debris is tangled around the main brush.

Solution:

  • Remove the main brush cover and take out the brush.
  • Cut and remove any tangled hair or debris.
  • Reinstall the brush and restart the robot.

6. Error 6 – Side Brush Jammed

Symptom: Side brush is not spinning.

Solution:

  • Remove the side brush and clear any tangled debris.
  • Reinstall and restart the robot.

7. Error 7 – Main Brush Motor Fault

Symptom: Main brush motor error reported.

Solution:

  • Clean the main brush and its housing thoroughly.
  • If the error continues after cleaning, the motor may need replacement — contact Roborock support.

8. Error 8 – Fan Motor Fault

Symptom: Suction is weak or the robot reports a fan error.

Cause: The dustbin is full, the filter is clogged, or the fan motor is faulty.

Solution:

  • Empty the dustbin and clean or replace the filter.
  • Check for blockages in the suction inlet.
  • If suction remains weak, contact support for fan motor inspection.

9. Error 9 – Dustbin Not Installed

Symptom: Robot reports dustbin missing.

Solution:

  • Remove and firmly reinsert the dustbin until it clicks into place.
  • Clean the dustbin contacts if dirty.

10. Error 12 – Charging Fault

Symptom: Robot cannot charge or reports a charging error.

Solution:

  • Clean the charging contacts on both the robot and the dock with a dry cloth.
  • Ensure the dock is plugged in and the power indicator is on.
  • Manually place the robot on the dock and check for a solid connection.

11. Error 13 – Charging Error (Battery)

Symptom: Battery does not charge or drains very quickly.

Solution:

  • Ensure the robot is used in the recommended temperature range (5°C–40°C).
  • If the battery is old, consider a replacement battery.
  • Contact Roborock support if the issue persists.

12. Robot Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi / App

Symptom: Robot fails to pair with the Roborock app.

Solution:

  • Ensure your phone and router are on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (most Roborock models do not support 5 GHz).
  • Reset the robot's network settings by holding the Home button for 5 seconds.
  • Re-add the robot in the Roborock app.
  • Ensure the router is within range and not using MAC address filtering.

13. Robot Gets Stuck Frequently

Symptom: Robot gets trapped under furniture or on rugs.

Solution:

  • Use virtual walls or no-go zones in the app to block problem areas.
  • Lift furniture with risers to give the robot more clearance.
  • Use carpet boost mode if the robot struggles on thick rugs.

14. Poor Cleaning Performance

Symptom: Robot misses spots or leaves debris behind.

Solution:

  • Clean or replace the main brush, side brush, and filter regularly.
  • Increase suction power in the app settings.
  • Run a full room mapping session to improve navigation accuracy.

General Maintenance Tips

  • Empty the dustbin after every 1–2 cleaning sessions.
  • Clean the filter weekly; replace every 2–3 months.
  • Clean the main brush weekly; replace every 6–12 months.
  • Clean the side brush monthly; replace every 3–6 months.
  • Wipe sensors monthly to maintain accuracy.
  • Keep the charging dock area clear and on a flat surface.
